About us

Scrappy, competent, and caring geeks

We're Skytear Games, a small studio making board and video games set in one fantasy world, Olan Taa. Brothers Giacomo and Riccardo Neri started it in 2019, and we've been making thematic strategy games ever since.

We're a small team scattered around Europe, and always have been. We're video gamers first, and it shows: MOBAs, card battlers and fighting games all left fingerprints on what we make. Most board games we play, we don't like. That's the filter: we make the ones we wish existed.

How we make games

  • Streamlined, never dumbed down

Fewer moving parts, more meaningful decisions. We cut clunky rules, padded card text and extra tracks, and keep the depth.

  • 90 minutes, tops

No Skytear game runs longer. If a design wants more time, the design loses something. One evening should fit setup, a full game and the post-game chat.

  • One world

Every game is set in Olan Taa, the world Giacomo and Parme have been building for years. When a hero acts, the ability does what that character would do. You never need to read the lore to feel it.

  • Nothing cheap in the box

We don't cut on components or print quality to hit a margin. We'd rather scope down or ship later. And we print what we expect to sell, so no warehouse full of dead stock.

Who we are

No org chart, no job titles. Here's who does what.

  • Giacomo

Co-designed Skytear, Horde and Onward with Riccardo, co-created Olan Taa with Parme, and picks up whatever lands on the desk in between.

  • Riccardo

Co-designed Skytear, Horde and Onward with Giacomo, and designed Fortressfall and The Quickening solo.

  • Parme

Here the longest. Co-created Olan Taa, writes the lore, and wrangles artists, factories and convention booths.

  • Fanky

Leads graphics and product. Edits rulebooks and cards, and runs our playtests.

  • Gloria

Administration and customer support. If you've emailed us about an order, you've probably met Gloria already.

  • Our freelancers

The cloud of freelancers we work with on every game, first and foremost Gong Studio for the illustrations.
